London School of Economics Student Centre Approval

Design for the London School of Economics Students’ Centre by irish architects O’Donnell & Tuomey has received planning approval. The project is costed at £21.5 million.

Victorian Society Object to LSE Students’ Centre Design

The striking contemporary design for the Students’ Centre design by O’Donnell & Tuomey Architects (architecture studio based in Dublin, Ireland) has been objected to by the Victorian Society. More information online soon.

Exhibition of LSE Students’ Centre Competition Shortlist

The six finalist schemes for the competition to design a new Students’ Centre for the LSE are to be exhibited in London. The designs will be displayed throughout September at New London Architecture, the Centre for London’s Built Environment.

LSE Students' Centre

The exhibition follows the recent announcement of Dublin based practice O’Donnell & Tuomey Architects as the winners of the competition. Their design was described as “a building that will glow with light and activity at night, and be engaging, open and social at all times”. The new Students’ Centre will play a vital role in enhancing the student experience and in furthering LSE’s aim of creating a world class estate.

The other five finalists schemes are by : Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, London ; David Chipperfield Architects, London ; de Rijke Marsh Morgan, London ; Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, London ; and 3XN A/S, Copenhagen.

New London Architecture is located at 26 Store Street, London WC1E 7BT. The exhibition will run from 2nd September until Friday 2nd October. Opening times are : Monday to Friday 9.30am – 6.00pm and Saturday 10.00am – 5.00pm.
