Winner Announced for Lambeth Accord Competition

Buschow Henley Architects have won the competition for the renovation and refurbishment of a disability hub on Brixton Road in London, managed by the Lambeth ACCORD Charitable Trust.

Lambeth Accord now hope to achieve a first class disability hub for Lambeth and South London that is considered a centre of excellence in accessibility for disabled people and also incorporates the highest standards of energy conservation and generation (target of BREEAM excellent rating).

Buschow Henley with Jane Wernick Associates as structural engineers, ZEF UK, environmental engineers and bptw as cost consultants comprised the full design team who fought off strong competition from Andrew Houlton Architects with Pierre d’Avoine Architects; Architype and Ash Sakula to be selected by the jury panel as winners of the competition.

John Jenner of Greenhill Jenner Architects said: “All four teams selected from the 100 entries delivered outstanding design proposals and the panel found it difficult to select a clear winner. This project provides a major opportunity to create an important Centre in London for disability groups, carers and the local community”.

The design team will now work closely with the client on developing their design proposal and achieving the required funding for the project.
