Islington House Design: Norton Ellis Architects This refurbishment project involved the addition of a contemporary rear extension and the removal of most of the ground floor internal structural walls. images from architects The result is a very bright open plan contemporary space, which incorporated a visually lightweight spray lacquered screen between the playroom and main reception room. A solid fuel stove was included along with solar water heating. The house has a distinctly Scandinavian feel, with white oiled floorboards, natural timber ceilings and lots of daylight.
