Tasou Associates granted Planning Permission for two contemporary
houses in Islington Conservation Area
Tasou Associates, recent runners up in the Urban Splash Northshore
competition, have been granted planning at committee for two new family
dwellings.

The two houses, described by committee members as 'uncompromisingly
contemporary', are sited in the New River Conservation Area. Planning
officer Ashley Niman praised the scheme's response to the local context
and its sensitive scale and materiality.
The house facing Cruickshank Street is formed of two interlocking
volumes, one faced in render and the other constructed using hand
cut slate bricks. The façade is a subtle shifting composition
of structural glass, render and slate planes.
The second house, discretely set back from the street and surrounded
by Sycamore trees, replaces an existing derelict building. The house
is clad in cedar shingles to blend with the trees around the site,
providing a texture which responds to the stock brickwork of the adjacent
buildings.
