THE BLACK CUBE : ARCHITECTURE IN A NEW LIGHT

Architectural practice Timothy Hatton Architects (THA) last week exhibited an unusual exhibition of its models during the London Design Festival, demonstrating why it has developed such a reputation for surprising, light-filled spaces and attention to detail.

The exhibition was based around a series of project study models back-lit in blackened spaces. It won rave reviews with visitors saying it was a ‘delight to enter and walk your exhibition’ and adding that ‘the black box, drama, mystery, intrigue, materiality, colour and light appreciation were all wonderful to behold’.

Tim Hatton, practice founder, described the idea behind the space as: “Heightening focus for the viewer through re-contextualisation while simultaneously presenting ambiguous, enigmatic readings of scale and dimension.”
