New Eco Residences for University of Liverpool
20 Aug 2009

Stride Treglown has submitted a planning application for new £45m halls of residence for the University of Liverpool.

The 700 study bedroom scheme including restaurant, café-bar, retail and office space, is split over two blocks, rising in height to seven storeys, on a brownfield city centre site to the south of the campus.

The innovative internal layout will enable the University to offer different types of accommodation to potential occupants (including undergraduates, post graduates (with and without families) and visiting professors) depending on their requirements. It also provides conference 'hotel' rooms which attain Quality in Tourism 3-star status.

The eco residences will be at the cutting edge of sustainable design and will feature rainwater harvesting, low energy lighting and solar thermal water heating. The development will also feature green roofs with wildlife habitats built into the brickwork. It has achieved a BREEAM 'excellent' pre-assessment rating.

The scheme will start on site at the end of the year with completion in the summer of 2011.
