This project was abandonded later in 2008, apparently due to the credit crunch. It seems to be underway again at the time of writing in 2018.

The Sheffield Digital Campus is a new development in Sheffield City Centre close to the railway station and bus station. The £110 million eCampus will be one of the most technologically advanced business sites in Europe and will help establish Sheffield as a centre for IT related and knowledge based industries in the UK, and Europe.
Partners include the developer Teesland/GMI, Sheffield City Council, Creative Sheffield, the city centre urban regeneration company and Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency. Over £1.6m of European funds are being invested in South Yorkshire’s infrastructure and so it is hoped that businesses locating into the eCampus, may qualify for Regional Selective Assistance and Regional Enterprise Grants.
