Montreal Luxury Hotel, Quebec, Canada Design: Lemay  image by architects Montreal Luxury Hotel - 28 May 2013 A new luxury hotel building on the Mount Stephen Club site located on 1440 Drummond Street in Montreal. Tidan Group owner of this impressive heritage building has started the construction of an 80-room hotel at the heart of downtown. The 12-storey building will contain luxurious accommodation, banquet rooms for 500 guests, flexible meeting rooms, a spa and a fitness center. The architectural concept was to upgrade the existing traditional structure with 'puristic' architecture. Monika Gogl therefore worked very consciously with contrasting materials such as local wood, natural stone, granite, glass and exposed concrete. The family establishment was enhanced and enlarged with a new wellness area and a new lobby with attached bar and restaurant. Fourteen spacious suites were added to make the new hotel increase by 1,100 sqm in area. Located in the Chaoyang district of Beijing, this is Hong Kong-based Swire Groups' second EAST brand hotel; the four-star business hotel is part of the new mixed-use retail-led ‘INDIGO’ development, set to become a prime business destination for Beijing. Benoy’s scope of work has included the Masterplanning, Architecture, Facade and Interior Design for EAST hotel, and the entire INDIGO development. Over time, and through subtle improvements and extensions, it has become one of the most distinctive hotels on the eastern part of the island. The last of the alterations, meant to celebrate the Mediterranean light and the location’s idyllic bond with nature, turned the hotel into much more than just a holiday destination.
