It aims at the reorganization of uses and accesses to the square, the redesign of existing facilities and the incorporation of new ones. The concept deals with the notion of hybrid space, time and place, as these coexist and express themselves in the Balkan Peninsula as a mixture of people, languages, religions, myths and traditions; as a mixture of colours and nature. Residence in Gerakas, Attiki Design: lkmk architects image from architects Gerakas Building - 8 Mar 2012 This new Greek building is located in the north-eastern Athenian suburbia, and will house the needs of a 4-member family. The concept is based on simple geometric forms that take full advantage of the south-eastern sky; the materials that we selected are raw concrete and the african iroko wood, for the wall-paneling and the window blinds. The quantity and diversity of the requested functions has established a premium design parameter for grouping them in individual unities, thus avoiding the danger of dividing and fragmenting the given space entity. These groups are architecturally expressed as generic spatial traces that highlight each one of them.
