Project : office complex
Location: N.Kifissia-Athenes
Country: Greece
Area : 2659 m2
End of construction : 2001
The project is a three storey office complex that consists of three
buildings that create two independent volumes with unified common spaces.
The main design concept was to order the volumes on the perimeter of the
site , to emphasize the access points and to provide flexibility of interior
partitioning .In the center of the site , a common courtyard provides
access to all buildings.
The internal circulation of the buildings (staircases, corridors) is facing
the courtyard.
The issue that determined the facades was the request for natural light
and views, so large glass planes were placed on the south and east side.
Great concern was applied on the matter of sun shading , an important
parameter in a climate of constant and intense sunshine .Sun shading is
succeeded by using permanent vertical and horizontal canopies, vertical
screens of corrugated steel or polycarbonate sheets, supported by metal
trusses. On the west facades there are relatively fewer openings.
The materials used are concrete, glass and steel. The solid vertical surfaces
are made of exposed concrete or are cladded with corrugated steel or aluminum
sheets.
