Government Buildings We've selected what we feel are the key examples of Government Architecture. We aim to include buildings that are either of top quality or interesting, or ideally both. We cover completed buildings, new building designs, architectural exhibitions and architecture competitions across the world. The focus is on contemporary Government buildings but information on traditional buildings is also welcome. Recent Government Building Dandenong Government Services Offices, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Design: HASSELL photograph : Peter Bennetts Dandenong Government Services Offices - 5 Oct 2012 The Government Services Offices development is one of the key projects of the Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative, a major urban renewal project being led by Places Victoria and the Victorian State Government. Developed and built by Grocon, the challenge of this landmark development was to create a high standard of urban design and quality workplace in this outer-suburban region, and to assist in the rebirth of the precinct as a major mixed-use activity centre. Rethinking how to serve the citizen in all the fields: circulations, attention surfaces, computers, waiting areas. Qualifying the working place and at the same time offering a citizen-friendly space. Facing the diversification of offices in the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan government), the model creates a strong unique image for all the offices. This offices will have to seek for the citizen contact, calling it to participate in the interior and making its activity visible from the exterior always that it's possible. Government Building Designs Key Government Building Projects, alphabetical: New General Building of Council of Europe, Strasbourg, France 2008 Art & Build Architect photo from architects Council of Europe Strasbourg Scottish Executive, Edinburgh, Scotland 1996 RMJM Architects photograph © Jason Baxter Scottish Executive Building Now titled Scottish Government Building The Scottish Executive - formerly the Scottish Office - is a solid building in symmetrical three-storey shape possibly to recall warehouse that existed previously on the site, though one suspects the shape was highly cost-efficient; interesting sandblasted sculpture/screen at back of entrance hall, two atria to each side. Victoria Quay is located in the centre of a huge redevelopment area mostly owned by Forth Ports. The building was opened on 1 Jul 1996 by HM Queen Elizabeth II. The Victoria Quay building has 35,000 sqm of accommodation on four floors and is 250m long.
