The joint venture of bdpgroupe6 (the recently formed healthcare group) and Ove Arup Berlin, has won the commission to reconstruct the leading hospital in Georgia - Tbilisi State University’s Republican Clinical Hospital,
The appointment from the Cartu Group - one of the biggest business holdings in Georgia - will begin with a study looking into the feasibility of retaining and refurbishing parts of the large Soviet-built 1960s hospital, against that of a complete new build of about 46,000 square metres.
As a symbol of the country’s re emergence in the west, the Georgian Government is dedicated to having a hospital designed and equipped to the highest of European standards.
Neil Cadenhead Director of bdpgroupe6 said “Our appointment is as architect and health planner - with the health planning supplied by Glynis Meredith-Windle. This is our new healthcare brand’s first commission since we announced its formation earlier this year (March 07) and will ensure that the best of English and French hospital architecture will be applied to this challenging and exciting project.”
