The Rungis Library is laid out in an existing building. The only asset of this building is the large volume that can be liberated under its roof. We created an object that corresponds exactly to the spacious dimensions of the interior volume.

An oversized object, designed to the scale of the interior volume, forms a mezzanine of 200 m² where the documentation area is located. The mezzanine has no reference to the world of construction and no relation to the existing building — it is a piece of furniture on a gigantic scale, made of a polyester shell. This autonomous object is just sheltered by the enormous roof space.
