Florentine Planes Landscape Design – ARTLANDS

Mr. Betsky’s presentation marks the conclusion of ARTLANDS Tour #2, the program of conferences and walks in the Florentine Plane which Image (www.image-web.org) started last year to provide knowledge and insights into the new landscape proposals suggested by the works carried out by biologist Carlo Scoccianti and aimed at defining new natural environments through the reclamation and alteration of the territory.

Some of the most valid observers of the international design culture observed the new landscape possibilities put in place in the Florentine planes which are compatible with the sensibilities and realities of our time. A quite unusual condition for the city of Florence. Pedro Gadanho, architecture curator at MoMA, New York; Beatrice Galilee, London-based journalist, curator for the Lisbon Triennale 2013; Richard Ingersoll, architecture historian who is sensitive to environmental topics; Sébastien Marot, French scholar of landscapes, among the founders of the École d’architecture de la ville & des territoires at Marne-la-Vallée; they all came to Florence to comment on Carlo Scoccianti’s work.

The last guest in the series, Aaron Betsky, director at the Cincinnati Art Museum, concludes the program. The appointment is on Friday May 31 at 9:15 pm at the Centro Pecci in Prato, Italy. The lecture by Betsky, which will be followed by a discussion with Gianni Pettena (architect and artist), will offer an original point of view on the landscape projects carried out in the Florentine Planes, in consideration of similar experiences in the Netherlands and in the United States.
