The first event in Wood for Good’s UK Spring 2016 conference programme, The Innovative Timber House: The New Architecture of Wood takes place on Tuesday 3 May 2016 in the King Khalid Building, Surgeons’ Hall, Edinburgh.
This one-day event explores new initiatives in the design of timber housing, the technologies emerging and the resources available in Scotland to research and develop ideas for new timber products and systems. The densely packed programme is designed to stimulate new thinking on the use of timber in construction and brings together a range of national and international specialists and leading timber architects to share insights from their respective fields and to highlight projects and developments of direct relevance to delegates interested in opportunities to use and even develop new timber products, processes and systems.
The design and mass implementation of new housing is the extreme architectural and engineering challenge of our age and Wood for Good’s Spring 2016 programme aims to demonstrate the many different ways in which timber – the definiteive renewable building material – offers high quality sustainable solutions. This is a conference of its time and for its time: genuinely a ‘must attend’ event that will not only provide inspiration to delegates, but also solid information on support finance and other opportunities to develop new and original ideas that can deliver timber housing to suit 21st century needs.
