Sheffield architects design £1 million school extension
Sheffield architects have designed a £1 million showcase extension to a primary school in Merseyside.
Planning permission has been granted for the scheme at Our Lady & St Edwards Catholic Primary School in Birkenhead, designed by Sheffield practice Race Cottam Associates.
The two phased extension will generate 420 sq metres of new teaching space including four new classrooms and additional supplementary areas to increase the capacity at this popular and successful school.
Race Cottam were appointed to deliver full design services by Davis Langdon, who are project managing the scheme on behalf of the Diocese of Shrewsbury.
Race Cottam regional director Simon Noblet said: "The Diocese of Shrewsbury are a new and prestigious client of ours who called us in to look at ways of increasing the capacity for pupils at this school. I'm delighted our designs have won full planning permission, so the school can go forward with these exciting development plans."
The Birkenhead scheme enhances Race Cottam's growing reputation for delivering high quality education projects. This year work has already finished on Race Cottam designed schemes at Our Lady & St Edwards Catholic Primary School Birkenhead in Derby and Sheffield Hallam University. Planning permission has also been received for four new schools in Bradford as part of the government's Building School's for the Future initiative.
