23 Apr 2009 MPS designs £12 million flu and stem cell research laboratories Design specialist Morgan Professional Services has designed a £12 million UK Stem Cell Bank and Influenza Resource Centre in Hertfordshire which its sister company Morgan Ashurst is building at South Mimms for the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC). Artist's impression of the new NIBSC United Kingdom Stem Cell Bank and Influenza Resource Centre: The two-storey building will accommodate a UK stem cell bank, influenza resource centre, laboratories, office space, a plant room and service areas. Around 35 scientists are expected to work in the centre, once it is completed in December this year. The building comprises a steel frame sitting on concrete ground beams with concrete structural flooring throughout and also features sweet chestnut timber cladding. NIBSC is a multi-disciplinary scientific organisation which safeguards and enhances public health by standardising and controlling biological substances used in medicines worldwide.
