A new care home for people with dementia and an intermediate careunit to prevent a prolonged stay at the hospital has completed in Bracknell, Berkshire. The Heathlands Integrated Health and Care Home is the result of a five-year Joint Commissioning Strategy between Bracknell Forest Council, Frimley CCG and Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The proposals include two new buildings – a Life Sciences Centre and pavilion café – and several radically retrofitted structures, all set within a new landscape design. For client Newcore Capital Management, architectural practice Sheppard Robson has submitted a detailed planning application for a collection of buildings at Silwood Science Park, located near Ascot and within the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Positioned on a floodplain, Heather Cottage has piled foundations and is raised up on concrete stilts 1.85m above the ground, supported by a steel frame. The unique angular design mitigates the risk of flood by combining two opposing blocks which form the shape of a ‘T’.

A site selection process was developed from a review of the current and previous admissions and the establishment of a new academy in the Oxford Road area has become a key regeneration project for the local community.

EPR has completed E² at IQ Winnersh for the client Segro and returned the flexible refurbished office space to the market after a site programme of less than 30 weeks. 75% of the building has already been let to a single occupier.

The second phase of the Grimshaw designed Reading station redevelopment opened to passengers last week. Five new platform faces and a new transfer bridge were unveiled on Tuesday 2nd April, making interchange at the station simpler, quicker and easier.

The declining film studios at Bray – famous for its mid-20th century association with Hammer Films – is to be sensitively redeveloped under plans by a:b:i:r architects. The proposals focus on the refurbishment of Down Place the iconic, grade II listed Thames side manor house on the site which will be returned to a private residence with a new build contemporary media centre elsewhere on the site upgrading the production facilities for the 21st century.

Stryker is a global leader in medical technology providing specialist orthopaedic and surgical equipment to healthcare professionals across the world including the NHS. The company has just completed its move to the new offices which will house 200 staff.
