Dublin Docklands Development Authority suspend construction plans indefinably due to economic conditions.

Landmark skyscraper proposed in 2000
Location: Sir John Rogerson's Quay / Britain Quay, South Docklands
Apartments with recording studio owned by the rock band U2 in at the top
Estimated cost of €200m
Height: uncomfirmed

Design competition for the U2 tower oct 2002, announced feb 2003
Entries: 530

Winning entry later disqualified because the DDDA had lost the details

Aug 2003 twisting tower design selected
winner: Burdon Dunne/Craig Henry (BCDH Architects)
Design approved on Oct 2006

Tender bid Oct 2007 from Geranger - consortium of property developers and U2
Geranger commissioned a new design by Foster + Partners
