Royal Academy of Fine Arts Copenhagen: Lecture

Copenhagen Historical Survey and Present Development on the Waterfront

Jens Kvorning, Architect, Associate Professor: School of Architecture,
Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen
1st Lecture of series: Jens Kvorning of Copenhagen Royal Academy of Fine Arts
Review by Adrian Welch

This talk by Jens Kvorning really explained both past and present Copenhagen planning and architecture issues. Jens' explanation of the newer Danish buildings, such as Henning Larsen's warehouse-type finger blocks, was made poignant and understandable by the earlier descriptions of the creation of Copenhagen city and harbour. There were points when I wasn't sure which bit of the Copenhagen I was looking at, but this was generally solved a few minutes later by pattern recognition, though I'm fortunate to have visited the city at first hand unlike some others attending. In summary, Jens made a professional and interesting talk which bodes well for the rest of the Tuesday Lecture series.
