This is well worth a trip north from Copenhagen. We visited on a sunny
Summer's day and the setting is superb, art set in beautiful buildings
in lovely grounds with a gorgeous view of the sea. Many of the buildings
are dug into the ground and all are modern except the old villa from 1856,
around which the complex has respectfully grown.
The architecture should, I suggest, be studied by all architect students
at University as the building is wonderfully contextual without being
weak, contemporary and strong without overpowering the art, and simply
sophisticated in its arrangement and articulation. If only some current
architects obsessed with creating 'instant icons' could learn from this
quiet way of forming space and form!

Louisiana has expanded consistently over the decades, with a Concert Hall
in 1976 being a key addition. There is a permanent collection, exhibitions,
shop and restaurant - with a connection down to the sea.
