ACADIA International Design Competition 2007
ACADIA, the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture,
is pleased to announce its third international design competition. As
in previous ACADIA competitions this will be held entirely on-line and
as a co-opetition; where the contestants themselves will be the jury.
It is open to student, academic and professional designers. The competition
is designed to encourage dialog among peers via an on-line Forum, voting
sessions, and e-mail. In addition, several of the competition's software
sponsors have offered support. This multi-level exchange between peers
and sponsors will make for a rich, stimulating experience.
The First Prize is substantial: a cash prize and a suite of licenses from
the top architectural software developers, including Autodesk (Revit),
Auto.Des.Sys (Form*Z), Bentley Systems, Inc. (Microstation), Robert McNeel
& Associates (Rhino), Gehry Technologies (Digital Project), Google
(Sketch-up and Google Earth), and Graphisoft (Archicad). Prizes for Second
place, Third place, and Honorable Mention will also be awarded.
The competition site is in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the location of ACADIA's
2007 conference. The program is for a New Media School to be situated
on the Halifax waterfront. The schedule for the competition includes three
interactive voting sessions, an awards ceremony at ACADIA's conference
in October 2007, and a publication. To register and for additional information
please visit the competition Web site: http://www.acadia2007.org/competition
Registration is open until March 15, and the first round of voting on
projects is March 30. The cost of the competition is $40 for students
and $100 for professionals. Consult the attached poster for the calendar
of events; the final deadline is June 30th 2007. For further questions
