Architects: Atkins
News Update Aug 2009: Planning approval granted
Status: Design development stage. Completion is expected before 2011
Potential: 2 high rise towers, which will comprise of a 200m tall 5 star hotel and 150 m high apartment building above a 4 storey mixed commercial and leisure podium.

Wuhan is one of the largest Chinese industrial cities, located on a confluence of two major rivers – Yang-tze and river Han in central China. Facing the main route to the city centre from the Airport and the main railway station, the Wuhan Pebble Towers are at an ideal business location.
The design for the two towers has been inspired by smooth pebbles polished by a mountain stream, with connotations of typical stylised Chinese landscape.
The massing and the elevational design of the two high rise towers will comprise of a 5 star hotel and an apartment building above a four storey mixed commercial and leisure podium, which will include shops, a conference centre and a cinema complex.
The project has already achieved local government planning approval and is now waiting to move to the next stage of design development.
