International Treaty
Organization Headquarters, Brussels

Like fingers interlaced in a symbolic clasp of unity and mutual interdependence,
SOMs design for the International Treaty Organization Headquarters
represents the changing mission of the organization from opposition and
prevention to unification and integration. The SOM landmark design provides
each member-nation with embassy-level security and privacy while also
providing shared space where national representatives can meet as partners
in the pursuit of peace and comity.

SOM PRESENTS NEW HEADQUARTERS DESIGN AT NATO SUMMIT IN BUCHAREST

SOM London Design Director, Jo Palma, attended the NATO Summit in Bucharest
recently to present SOM and ASSARs final design for NATOs
new headquarters building. A model of the building was exhibited in the
Palace of Parliament for the duration of the summit and revealed to world
leaders how this landmark building will accommodate each member nation
with Class A office space and infrastructural support. The design will
provide shared meeting spaces, reflecting NATOs new missions, its
enlarged membership and its extended partnerships.
