House in Ametlla del Vallès

The setting is a not particularly pleasant housing complex in the Prelittoral Hills. The slope of the terrain and the overwhelming presence of the side of the neighbour’s house, a wall built without planning permission, mean that the house is logically oriented towards the views offered by the surrounding countryside. Construction is concentrated on the highest part of the site on one level (planning regulations envisage GF+1).

The layout of the floor plan is the direct result of the regulatory limits, except on the south side, where the house stops short to provide more space for the garden. Other factor, such as an unexpected drain in the municipal sewerage system, helped to define the final volume. The roof, conditioned by the slope of the site, is more or less at the same level as the street leading to the plot, making it the main façade of the house.
