The winners of the 16th AR MIPIM Future Project Awards were announced yesterday during the largest gathering of architects at MIPIM at the JW Marriott in Cannes, South of France.

The architectural industry elite came together from across the globe for a night of unrivalled networking and celebration of the world’s best future designs.

The awards are a celebration of architectural excellence in un-built or forthcoming projects spanning 11 categories.

All entries were assessed by an international jury chaired by Paul Finch, Editorial Director, The Architectural Review & The Architects’ Journal.

This high-rise office design for BASF SE in Ludwigshafen, Germany was awarded the prestigious ‘Overall Winner’ prize at the conclusion of this year’s Architectural Review MIPIM Future Projects Awards ceremony.

The 26.000 sqm (gross) project, which was also successful in the Offices category of the awards, is currently in the planning phase.

MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards – call for entries

1 November 2013 – The organisers of the annual MIPIM Architectural Review Future Project Awards have called for entries into their 2014 competition, with the deadline for submissions confirmed as 13 December 2013.

2013 Overall Winner – Skidmore Owings and Merrill’s Breathing Tower in China:

Now in their twelfth year, the awards are the only competition focusing exclusively on future projects. They celebrate excellence in unbuilt or incomplete projects spanning across twelve categories. The awards take place at MIPIM, the global property fair, which attracts over 20,000 delegates to Cannes. With a strong focus on creativity, these awards are a chance to showcase projects that are examples of fine architecture, but have also responded to the client’s development brief, and considered the way in which they will impact and contribute to the community around them.

Breathing Tower – aka Greenland Group Suzhou Center:

The Greenland Group Suzhou Center is designed to address poor air quality in Wujiang, incorporating a 30-storey tall operable window in the tower’s atrium, which invites cool air flow during summer months from the seasonal prevailing winds, and floods the interior spaces with natural light.
