This was the case in Edinburgh, where Allan Murray Architects’ Hotel Missoni had been nominated on the grounds it was “an unimaginative lump in a sensitive area”, but would anything please the city’s conservationist lobby? Probably not, said the judges, who felt the hotel was the least offensive building on the list."
