The proposal for the Fallingwater Cottages is about receding into the edge condition between forest and field. It is against object architecture and instead is for an architecture that fosters authentic experience of place.

Innovation City Abu Dhabi, UAE : Studio Daniel Libeskind
“Innovation City” is a state-of-the-art academic and technological hub which will be the future home to Abu Dhabi Men’s College, CERT, and HCTs Central Services division. Siemens, as the technology partner of choice, will contribute to the project with solutions that add more value and efficiency in buildings through sustainable technology.

A vibrantly coloured development, quite controversial at the time of its completion. The cluster of buildings is not on the tourist trail yet, however its location not far south of the British Museum might increase footfall, certainly an interesting architectural group mostly due to the bright colours of the facades.

Cherokee Mixed-Use Lofts is an urban infill, mixed-use, market-rate housing project. The building is inspired by the series of paintings by the British artist Patrick Hughes titled, “Prospectivity”, whose paintings appear to be ever changing and physically moving while being viewed.

School of Pharmacy Kitchener, Ontario, Canada : Hariri Pontarini Architects
The University of Waterloo’s School of Pharmacy was designed and built to provide a suitable learning environment for students and faculty, act as a catalyst for its immediate community, and present the city of Kitchener with a distinct landmark. The resulting school-clinic hybrid sets an important precedent for future academic developments, highlighting the importance of combining education with real world practice.

European Central Bank, Frankfurt, Germany – News : COOP HIMMELB(L)AU
The location for the new headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt’s Ostend district has the potential of adding a new landmark to the Frankfurt skyline that will be visible at great distances. The starting point for the design of the towers was the urban perspectives of the city of Frankfurt.

Anchorage Museum Building Alaska, USA : David Chipperfield Architects
The organisation of the new building is based on five linear volumes of varying length and height arranged along the western face of the existing building. This arrangement forms a new facade and entrance facing downtown Anchorage.

Construction of Dubai Pearl is continuing, and the groundwork, foundations, basements and lower grounds floors of the four towers which form the central section of Phase 1 of the development is now complete. Designed by Schweger Associated Architects of Germany forPearl Dubai FZ LLC, a consortium of investors led by Abu Dhabi’s Al Fahim Group, the development will offer a unique destination within the Emirates.

NYC Ballet Stagesets, New York, USA : Santiago Calatrava
Calatrava, who is best known for his acclaimed bridges, transportation centers and educational buildings, agreed to create scenic designs for five of the company’s new productions. Not only are these the first stage designs that the celebrated architect has ever conceived, but he is also the only architect besides Philip Johnson (1981) to receive such an honor.

Korean Pavilion Shanghai 2010 Expo : Mass Studies – new photos
The Korea Pavilion is situated in Zone A, directly neighboring the Japan Pavilion and the Saudi Arabia Pavilion, and in close proximity to the China Pavilion. The site is around 6000m2, and it is one of the largest lots within the Expo compound.

Masdar HQ Building, Abu Dhabi, UAE : Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture
Masdar Headquarters is the centerpiece of Masdar City, a carbon-neutral, zero-waste development. Masdar Headquarters is slated to host the executive leadership of the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, the developer of Masdar City, as well as the secretariat of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), an international organization promoting global use of energy from renewable sources.
