27 Oct 2011 Line and Space - News Tucson-based Architect Line and Space Receives Arizona Architectural Firm of the Year Award Tucson, Arizona - Architecture firm Line and Space, has been selected as the 2011 Architectural Firm of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). University of Arizona Poetry Center photo : Robert Reck The award recognizes a firm that has produced distinguished architecture for over ten years, has made significant contributions to the profession and the community, and has transcended local boundaries in making these contributions. Awarded by an out of state jury comprised of architects, the honor was given to Line and Space at the Institute’s Celebrate Architecture Awards Gala held in Phoenix on October 22. San Diego National Wildlife Refuge photo : Mike Torrey Line and Space was founded in 1978 and focuses on the design and building of innovative and ecologically sound architecture that respects and responds to site conditions. By integrating structure and landscape, their projects encourage and demonstrate notions of environmental stewardship as seen in the award-winning Cesar Chavez Library in Phoenix, University of Arizona Poetry Center, San Diego National Wildlife Refuge, and the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center outside of Las Vegas. Attracting clients as far away as China, the firm is currently working on commissions in Kunming, Qinzhou, and Shenzhen. The firm’s four principal partners are graduates of the University of Arizona College of Architecture.
