GMW has just completed a new mixed-use building on High Holborn in London for developer Hines. Externally ‘280’ presents an elegant addition to the busy street. Inside the building the main focus, and the architects’ inspiration, is the continuous view of gentle, dignified Lincoln’s Inn Fields to the south. The 7 storey 64,000 sq. ft. development includes offices, a self-contained residential complex, and a ground floor retail unit.

Atatürk Airport – International Terminal, Istanbul, Turkey

The design of the terminal, together with its underground rapid-transit rail station and neighbouring car park, was inspired by a desire for simple and instinctive passenger routes between land side and the aircraft.

41 Lothbury is part of the cluster of historic buildings at the heart of London’s Square Mile that symbolise the essence of the City as a global financial institution. The building is a Grade II* listed former bank headquarters and its redevelopment has produced a rich blend of contemporary office space with the unique style and elegance of a traditional City landmark.

The building’s architecture responds to these three very different urban environments with a restrained, limestone and glass façade addressing High Holborn, and an echelon form to Great Turnstile, which opens up to form an intimate urban space and provide oblique views south towards the green expanse of Lincoln’s Inn Fields.

Minster Court : unusual neo-Gothic office building, £178m
Minster Court is a complex of three office buildings, completed between 1991 and 1992 and designed by architects GMW Partnership. During the final phase of fitting-out on 7 August 1991, there was a fire in the atrium of No. 3 Minster Court which caused a serious delay in completion. The style has been described as “postmodern-gothic”.

Scott Brownrigg acquires GMW Architects, Aug 2015:
International design practice Scott Brownrigg acquired a 100% stake in GMW Architects and GMW Architects International Ltd.
The move aligns with Scott Brownrigg’s strategic UK and international development plans and follows GMW’s successful appointment as lead designer for the prestigious new Istanbul Airport in Turkey, planned to be the largest airport in the world.
The acquisition completed on 7 August 2015.
