The site is located in the city center of Kyoto, just west of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, in an area populated with houses, small shops, apartment buildings, and hotels.

Step Tower Osaka
The architects describe it thus: “A stark white ship that sails in the middle of the bustling sea of colors. It is simple, neat and clean. You look up the smooth and pure white exterior wall. This reminds you of a cool life style in some southern country, or of being on a trip, and spending days at a tropical land in a quest of change of air.”

Tower of Ring in Tianjin
People forget which one they look up to: the tower or the sky. It has an eye-opening shape, its beginning and ending is invisible. It is designed like a flow of stream, yet the form is very simple. It is a shape of waves, and a ring. It is a transparent vanity enclosed in a dragon shaped form. Lucid light pours into the empty tower. People’s happiness gathers around this serene tower.

T Residence
The site is at Mano area in Otsu city and this house is situated within only a hundred steps from Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. In ancient times it was called the “sea.”
This house is built in the same style as a samurai residence. At first glance I felt the nobility of this building. However this house was so gloomy that I could not help but believing in the presence of a ghost.

A house awaiting death
“A house awaiting death,” the client said to us.
“I will die in 15 years. It will be a house awaiting that death. The building is fine as long as it lasts 15 years. Something small would be good.”

Kyoto House
The facade of this house has the shape of a keyhole. A key to open “my house”, which is standing along a narrow street of a crowded town, is designed as a key itself on the façade of this house.

Beijing Olympic Wrestling Arena
It is the international design proposal competition for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Wrestling Arena. During the Olympic Games, the wrestling arena has a 10,000-person capacity. After the Olympic Games, 4,000 temporary seats can be taken out to and the interior can be refitted with three arenas, a pool, and 6000 seats to transform the space into a gymnasium complex.
