Remote Viewing Station
Design competition entry proposing a visitors' dwelling in Canada's Banff National Park (Central Glass Company Design Competition 2008 - Architecture Co-Existing with UNESCO World Heritage Sites). The original scheme included an interior spiral construction.

The winner of the competition should be announced Dec 2008

Here, the canopy portion of the project alone is envisioned as a gallery installation.
Controlled lighting emerges through the patterned openings of a thin, shell-like structure, creating an atmosphere that is both charged and contemplative. The work is positioned in a gallery space whose walls are flooded with light.

Sculpture Park proposal

The unifying studio thrust, however, is the 'contemporary ruin' - an architecture not conventionally habitable but driven towards porosity to both visitors and elemental forces (this project envisioned the canopy as open to the environmental forces) - an idea of 'green' architecture driven to a sort of extreme, with a programmatic idea of a meditative, non-functional space.
