Animal Refuge Centre
The two Amsterdam animal refuges have been amalgamated – the new-built is the largest pound in the Netherlands. The plot is on edge of the city, an apparently impossible wedge of land. The “comb model” usual for this function consists of a long service corridor, with a repetition of kennels orthogonal to it, separated by small outside spaces.

The building is nine stories high on the side facing the sport fields. On the Boulevard side, the building fits the small-scale character of this pedestrian street with two building layers. The supermarket and the hairdresser are on this side.
