Great City is envisioned as a prototype or model city to be replicated in other locations throughout the country. Qintai Center, Wuhan, east China Design: Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture image from architects Qintai Center - 2 Oct 2012 Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is pleased to announce that it has won an international competition to design Qintai Center, a 248-meter (814-feet) tall, high-performance corporate headquarters tower and related podium structure in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. AS+GG’s winning entry was selected over competing schemes from firms based in the Netherlands, Japan and Hong Kong. Dancing Dragons, Yongsan International Business District in Seoul, South Korea AS+GG image © AS+GG Dancing Dragons Seoul - 10 May 2012 Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is pleased to announce its design for Dancing Dragons, a pair of landmark supertall mixed-use towers for the new Yongsan International Business District in Seoul, South Korea. The buildings, which include residential, “officetel” and retail elements, consist of slender, sharply angled mini-towers cantilevered around a central core. The design aesthetic is highly contemporary yet informed by aspects of traditional Korean culture. Recent Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture News Kingdom Tower, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia To be the world’s tallest building, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, near the Red Sea. image © Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture Kingdom Tower, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia At over 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) and a total construction area of 530,000 square meters (5.7 million square feet), Kingdom Tower will be the centerpiece and first construction phase of the Kingdom City development on a 5.3 million-square-meter site in north Jeddah. The tower’s height will be at least 173 meters (568 feet) taller than the world’s current tallest building, Dubai’s 828-meter-tall Burj Khalifa, which was designed by Adrian Smith while at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Beedle Lifetime Achievement Award Adrian Smith, AS + GG Architecture Wuhan Greenland Center, China image from architects Wuhan Greenland Center Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is pleased to announce that it has won an international competition to design Wuhan Greenland Center, which at 606 meters (1,988 feet) will likely be China’s third-tallest building, and the fourth tallest in the world, when completed in about five years. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer in Wuhan near the meeting of the Yangtze and Han rivers.
