The flagship project of DUPUIS DESIGN is the creation of a mansion in San Clemente, California, USA. From blueprint development to the finishing touches, the project was entirely monitored in San Clemente as well as from Paris by Peggy Dupuis and Mathew Reeh, the meticulous project managers from Malone Bros Contractors.

Through real teamwork, this beautiful home came to life after 12 months of construction. It was surrounded with trusted partners including one of the best architects in Southern California, Dale Naegle, as well as Richard Dupuis, her husband, a building engineer and builder.

The very modern Californian-style, featuring her signature red, plays with transparency with its customized bay windows that look out completely onto the outside, offering a view of the ocean, its islands and a magnificent Californian sunset melting onto the horizon. Its interior is curved and rounded, contrasting with the quite geometrical exterior. The decoration and furnishings are simple, blending white, anthracite grey and black, with a touch of light-colored wood.

The play between light and transparency are everywhere thanks to the windows and the materials used. They pave the way for a Zen garden and a saltwater swimming pool with a grey bottom and bordered in red brick, reflecting onto the many façades of the building.

A clever set of window openings, glass doors and skylights provide natural air conditioning, circulating throughout the rooms.

The masterpiece of this house is a high load-bearing wall painted red with a sandstorm effect, painted by Peggy Dupuis herself, and visible from the entryway. It provides a perfectly controlled break and a warm and friendly touch.

The house was designed for maximum security in the event of an earthquake or other land movements thanks to a concrete and metal foundation, implanted very deeply into the ground. This type of installation had never before been done in a Californian home.

Outstandingly sensitive to ecological constraints, Peggy Dupuis designed the whole home based on a model of very low-energy consumption, with a fireproof installation and featuring a home-automation style pre-wiring.
