The new Roe Green Center at Kent State University, Kent, OH, (opened Nov, 6, 2010) designed by Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture (HMBA) is one of the latest examples of how U.S. colleges and universities nationwide are improving their campus offerings in the most cost-effective ways possible through unified, multi-functioning educational facilities that combine new construction with renovation.

What sets Kent State’s recent addition apart from other recently completed academic music and performing buildings is that it creates a new front door for the arts by providing a single entryway for six departments and four performance spaces, and features multi-use theatre and open, engaging reception/lounge spaces. The $13 million, 73,500 s.f. building will also unite KSU’s divisions of Music with Theatre and Dance in a single structure for the first time since the programs merged in 1994.
